Charles E. Roderick, 82, of Freeport, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Presence St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born August 10, 1931 in Magnolia, Wisconsin he was the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Pinnow) Roderick.
He married Marguerite Ingold April 10, 1954.
He was a Marine veteran serving during the Korean War attaining the rank of Sargent after just two years.
Charles worked for Micro Switch Company and then for over 20 years at Newell Companies serving in warehousing, accounting and then as Director of Treasury Services until his retirement.
An avid bird watcher he belonged to the Audubon Society. Charles volunteered at the Senior Resource Center helping seniors with their taxes.
Surviving are his wife, Marguerite of Freeport; two sons, David (Linda) Roderick and Richard (Kimberly) Roderick both of Freeport; three granddaughters, Chelsea (Joshua) Hardacre and Reina Roderick both of Freeport, and Lindsay (Robbie) Ludwig of Winnebago; four great grandchildren, Elle, Emery and Presley Ludwig and Oliver Hardacre.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois Bimm.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Mark Balmer officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for the Senior Resource Center or a charity of your choice.
