Charles A. Scheidegger, age 89 of Freeport, IL passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. He was born October 2, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Arthur and Nelly (Denzler) Scheidegger. Charles married Audrey J. Spensley in Belmont, WI on June 30, 1956. She passed away in 2002. Charles graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, UT.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Freeport and the Chadwick Masonic Lodge. Charles served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1954. He was a cheesemaker alongside his dad at Chadwick Swiss Cheese Company and later retired from Kolb Lena. He also volunteered at FHN for several years. Charles was a sports enthusiast and always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and loved playing Wii Bowling and Bocce Ball with his friends at Liberty Village.

Charles is survived by his three children: daughters, Sherry Haijenga and children, Matthew and Michael Wisner; Lori (John) Scibona and children, Cara (Jess) Merry and Aaron Scibona; his son, Brian (Nicki) Scheidegger and children, Breanna, Brooke and Trey; his daughter-in-law, Deb Scheidegger and children, Samantha (John) Adamczyk, Kristin (Kyle) Ullmark and Molly Scheidegger; his two great grandchildren, Eliana and Michael Adamczyk; his sister, Dody (Norval) Jones and nieces, Diane, Brenda, Mary Ellen and Karen and other nieces and nephews. He enjoyed being part of the Haijenga family; Brenda, Beth, Brian and Barb. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey; son, Bruce and son-in-law, Carroll Haijenga.
