Freeport – Charles F. Stocker, 100 of Freeport passed away on June 3, 2024 at Liberty Village Manor Court of Freeport. He was born on May 24, 1924 in Rock City to the late Karl and Louise (Kappeler) Stocker. He graduated from the American High School. Chuck and Jean I. Noble were married on May 13, 1945 at Orangeville United Methodist Church. Jean passed away on November 26, 2020. Chuck served in the Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate during WWII.
In his early years he was a cheesemaker. He started in 1950 with Goerlitz and Bechnell of Rockford selling dictation equipment as well as working with the Freeport Stationers and Office Products Inc. He operated his own business as CF Stocker Copy Equipment and Supplies Co. from 1969 until his retirement in 2006. He held leadership roles at Embury United Methodist Church, The Freeport Noon Kiwanis club as past President and he was an enthusiastic tennis player and supporter in the Freeport area for many decades.
He is survived by his sons, Karl (Jacalyn) Stocker, Craig (Marcia) Stocker, daughter, Christine (Douglas) McWilliams, grand-children, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Jean, a brother, John Stocker and sister, Elaine (John) Klever.
There will be a visitation at 1pm on Wednesday, June 12th and a service to follow at 1:30pm all at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Chapel of Peace. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com. There has been a memorial established in his name for the Freeport Noon Kiwanis Club.
