Charles W. Turner, 69, of Freeport, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at his home. Born May 23, 1944, in Jonesborough, Arkansas; he was the son of Raymond and Flossie (Craft) Turner. He married Barbara Thompson March 18, 1972. Surviving are his wife, Barbara of Freeport; his brothers, William (Rosalie) Turner of Freeport, Raymond Turner Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina and Jackie (Peggy) Turner of Arlington Texas; his sisters, Catherine McCombs of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dorothy Martin of Brussels and Shirley (Gary) Olson of Mindoro, Wisconsin; his mother-in-law, Viola Thompson of Freeport; his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Magee of Janesville, Wisconsin and Becky (David) Lammers of Freeport, his nieces; nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care of Charles. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Walker Mortuary.
There will be a gathering for friends and relatives from 12 noon until time of service at Walker Mortuary on Saturday.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment of his cremated remains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
