Charles E. Veach, 81, of Freeport, died Monday, May 5, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born August 4, 1926 at home in Rock City he was the son of John and Jeanette (Oudyn) Veach.
Charles attended Dakota High School and received his GED in 1967.
He married Elaine Wilson in 1946 in Freeport. They lived in Rock Grove for 37 years before moving to Freeport. She died July 16, 2007 in Freeport.
Charles worked for 35 years at Ingersoll in Rockford retiring in 1992
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia (Charles) Foutch of Rockford; one son, Eugene Scott Veach of Freeport; Grandson, Garry Foutch of Loves Park; Granddaughter, Michelle Foutch of Rockford; great granddaughter, Tina Foutch of Loves Park; 1 sister, Florence Faull of Freeport; half sisters, Helen (Jim) Conklin, Virginia (Robert) Keister, and Donna Veach; 2 half brothers, Albert (Grace) Veach and Louis Veach; 1 brother in-law, Kirt Lamb; 1 sister in-law, Pauline Veach; dear nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Irene Flynn; his wife, Elaine; 2 sisters, Marion Walker and , Alice Lamb; 2 brothers, John Veach and Robert Mellin; 2 brother in-laws, Albert Faull and Glenn Walker; sisters in-law, Judith Veach and Kathleen Wilson.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Don Jamerson of First Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Grove Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
