Charlotte J. Bruning, 87, of Dakota died Wednesday, May 28, 2013 at her home with her daughter by her side.
Born December 25, 1925 in Freeport she was the daughter of George and Lorena (Balles) Kappes and her stepfather Xelpho Baylis.
She was a 1943 graduate of Freeport High School.
On September 23, 1944 she and Leroy Bruning were united in marriage at Spartanburg, SC, he preceded her in death on April 3, 2004. She and Leroy farmed in the Freeport area most of her life.
Charlotte was a member of the Freeport Moose Lodge holding many offices with the Women of the Moose, and a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary (Mark) Goeke of Freeport; two grandchildren Dan (Amanda) McWorthy of Freeport, Angie (Dan) Rieder of Monroe, WI; five great grandchildren, Hunter McWorthy of Freeport, Jade and Alexa McWorthy, Kaiden and Kailey Rieder all of Monroe, WI; three step-grandchildren, seven step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, stepfather, husband and good family friends Marion and Ann Liles. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with MSGR. William P. McDonnell officiating.
Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name for the FHN Hospice.
