Freeport: Charlotte E. Downs, 90, of Freeport died Sunday April 25, 2010 at her home. Born July 2, 1919 in Benton Wisconsin she was the daughter of Charles J. and Susan W. (Honerbaum) Wilson. On July 25, 1937 she married Robert L. Downs and he preceded her in death in January of 2000. Charlotte was a member of the Navy Mothers, VFW, Women's Relief Corps and was a past Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She is survived by her son, Kevin R. (Imelda) Downs of Carthage, IL; One Sister, Nancy Lehnertz of Clinton, IA: two sister-in-laws, Mary Downs of Stockton and Mary J. Downs of Norwalk, Cal.; two grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Roger in February 2005. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday April 29, 2010 at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Mortuary.
