Freeport – Charyl J. (Wing) Wagenknecht, 84 of Freeport passed away on January 7, 2026 at Citadel St. Joseph's Village of Freeport with her family by her side.  She was born on July 25, 1941, the daughter of Samuel and Kathryn( Staas) Wing.  She married Jim Wagenknecht on November 25th, 1960.

Charyl was a realtor for many years, working for Bavarian Realtors, Senior & Barrett, Barrett Realtors and Preferred Realty.  Her and Jim owned Freeport Seamless Gutters for many years and she helped keep the books in perfect order. She was a motorcycle racing Mom traveling around the country to races with her family.  She and Jim enjoyed Rv'ing to friends in Florida and enjoyed their Apple Canyon Lake home.  Charyl was an avid reader and she loved her westerns and animals.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, of 65 years. Her son, Tim (Stacey) Wagenknecht. Brother, Brian (Sherry) Wing; Sister, Sue Colvin and Sister-in-law, Barb Wing; Nephews, Rick (Wendy) Wing and Chris Wing.

Charyl was preceded in death by her parents; Son, Greg and Brother, David Wing.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been designated in her honor at Friends Forever Humane Society. Cremation Rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Freeport Eagles Club on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 1-4pm.
