Christopher Nelson Moore, age 73, passed away at home February 2, 2022.  He was born March 18, 1948 in

Newton, MA to George N Moore and Jeanne Laurent.

Christopher was married to Joanna M. Hartung on March 29, 2012 in Freeport, IL.

Christopher's passion for his family ties to France was known to all who knew him.  He visited there and spent time in the rural village where his mother lived much of her life.  He went to University of California at Berkeley and never tired of the memory of those golden years of youth and vitality.  In later years he settled in Stephenson County, finding his wife to be whom he remembered from his past life 25 years before.  At that time he developed a business around barn lumber which took him and his wife around the country.  Christopher also worked as a stucco mason, mostly in California.

Christopher loved to tell stories, and his greatest pleasure was in dining with friends and regaling them with stories, past and present.  His knack for mimicry and humor made his listeners laugh as loud as he did.  Although he was raised in the city and loved its energy, he lived his last decades in the country and grew to love rural peace and quiet.  In his late years he doted on his fine cat, Misha, and mourned deeply that animal's demise.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Charles Ellis.   In addition to his wife, Joanna, he is survived by his stepsons Graham (Heather) in Crete, Illinois and Garth (Mary) of Chicago, three step-grandchildren, his brother Nicholas, Patrick (in California) and sister Shannon, nieces and extended family (in France), sisters Amanda and Victoria (in Australia), as well as a great circle of friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a family memorial gathering will be held in the summer.
