Dakota – Cindy Lou (Dennis) Buss, 77 of Dakota passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Javon Bea Mercy Hospital in Rockford with her family at her side.  She was born, November 5, 1945 in Freeport to Nobel and Helen (Kloepping) Wilson.  She attended Dakota High School and graduated in 1963. She married Dennis Buss on February 13, 1965 in Afolkey, Illinois.  They were married for 58 years and together they built a life.

She enjoyed being with family and friends.  Entertaining and hostessing was something that she really looked forward to and she excelled at. Cooking, baking, coloring, watching birds at their cabin, following the Chicago Cubs and Bulls and being at Rock River Bible Camp were also things that brought her great joy.  She and her husband pastored 5 churches during the course of their marriage.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school functions.

She is survived by her mother, Helen Wilson of Freeport; Husband, Dennis; 1 son Douglas (Nina) Buss of Glendale, AZ; two daughters, Diane Buss of Rockford and Kathy (Greg) Davis of Dakota.  1 brother, Gaylon (Pat) Wilson of Freeport and Sister SanDee (Kenny) Mitchell of Dakota; Brothers-in-law Kenny Buss of KY and Bill Mick of Richland Center, WI.  Her legacy includes 5 grandchildren Leah (Blaine) Cornelson, Dillon Buss, Michael Davis, Andrew Davis and Ellyn Davis as well as 3 great grandchildren RaeLynn, Maevynn and Beau Cornelson.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, her daughter, Kristin Buss, Brother-in-law, Richard Buss Sr.; sister-in-law, Rae Jean Mick; Mother and Father-in-law, Ervin and Francis Buss; and Sisters-in-law Rosalee Buss and Delores Buss.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, July 16 from 3-6:30pm at Grace ECC Afolkey church.  The service will be held on Monday, July 17 at 10:30am also at Grace ECC Afolkey Church.  A memorial has been established in her name for the Rock River Bible Camp, The Rockford Rescue Mission and the Indian Grove Church Addition fund.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
