Tucson, AZ., CLARENCE DALE "LANCE" FLUEGEL, 74 formerly of the Dakota area passed away on June 10, 2010 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born in Dakota, IL. on July 3, 1935, the son of Clyde and Selma (Kloepping) Fluegel. Mr. Fluegel spent the winters in Tuscon and the summers in Machesney Park, IL. Raised and educated in Illinois he was a long time educator in the Oswego (IL) School District and enjoyed a successful secondary career as a Farm Safety Specialist with the University of Arizona. He loyally served his country from Aug. 29, 1957 until Aug 5, 1959 as a cryptographer, in the US Army Signal Corp. He pursued woodworking, tennis, euchre and travel with a passion.
He is survived by three sons, Dale (Anne) Fluegel of Cortland, IL., David (Coi) Fluegel of New Palastine, IN. and Curtis Fluegel of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by his former wife of 21 years Shirley Fluegel of Aurora, IL. Also surviving are three grandchildren Nicole and Andrew Fluegel and John Tran, one brother Donald Fluegel of Dakota, one sister-in-law Carol Fluegel of Dakota and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, one sister, Betty Folk, one brother Frederick Fluegel, one sister-in-law Evelyn Fluegel and one brother-in-law William Folk.
