Obituary

Clarence Wilson, 73, of Freeport, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born in1935 in Hartford, Connecticut he was the son of Clarence E. and Yvonne (Hallisey) Wilson. He married Carol McGinnis April 24, 1981 in Freeport.
He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Connecticut.
Clarence was in sales for Monsanto, Kautenburg, Empire Brush, and retired from Newell Rubbermaid in 1998. He then served as a part time sales representative for American Parts Distributors.
He served with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany, served on the Freeport Library Board from 1997-2004, volunteered at Center School as a reader to small children in the first grade, enjoyed traveling especially to see lighthouses on the east and west coast, loved cruising the Caribbean, and taking trips to Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Surviving are his wife, Carol of Freeport; his sons, Curt (Julie) Wilson of Roscoe, Randy Wilson of Rockford, Chris (Lori) Wilson of Burlington, IA, and Scott Wilson of Rockford; step-daughters, Stephanie (Mitch) Fager of Winston, GA and Kelli (Len) Boudreaux of Buford, GA; 5 grandchildren; and his beloved puppy dog, Lucibee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Camp Horizon in Metro Atlanta, Georgia where abused and neglected children, living in foster care are taken care of with year round programming. Or you may choose FHN Hospice.
