Craig L. Toepfer, 61 of Freeport died Thursday, May 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer at his home. Born December 6, 1951 in Freeport he was the son of Leroy and Ruth (Busch) Toepfer. He was a graduate of Freeport High School. On August 14, 1970 he and Diane Ruter were united in marriage. For 35 years he worked for A&B Freight. Craig was very much a family man who enjoyed photography and the outdoors: camping, fishing and hiking. He is survived by his wife Diane of Freeport; three children Misty (Tom) Seagren of Princeton, IA, Brandy (Jacqueline) Toepfer of Orlando, FL, Arik (Reene) Toepfer and sister-in-law/surrogate daughter Denise (Ed) Whalin of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren Jake Zielke, Hannah and Noah Seagren; brothers Gene (Dyan) Toepfer of Belvidere, Neal (Julie) Toepfer of Freeport; sister Christine Scace. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Craig's life will be from 11a.m.- 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cedarville Community Center, Cedarville. A memorial has been established in his name.
