Crescence D. Knapp, age 78 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at WinnPrairie in Freeport. She was born October 2, 1941; the daughter of the late LaVerne and Martha (Winter) Mitchell. She married LaVerne Shippee on December 17,1960; he passed in 1962. She later married Merlyn Knapp in 1963; he passed on March 11, 2016.
Crescence was a licensed cosmetologist and proud homemaker. She was thrifty and loved going to garage sales. She also enjoyed baking, flowers, and afternoon walks.
She is survived by her son, Eric (Julie Bushman) Shippee of Orangeville, IL; daughters, Kimberly (Kevin) Dose of Saginaw, TX and Tammy Knapp of Freeport; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and sister, Brenda Mitchell of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, LaVerne Shippee; and brother, Kirk Mitchell.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31st at 1:00 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for Monroe Clinic Hospice.
