Cynthia Ditsworth, age 71 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born September 11, 1953 in Rockford, IL; the daughter of the late Al and Gladys (Jensen) Shain. Cynthia graduated from Pear City High School with the class of 1972. She married Duwaine (Allen) Ditsworth on April 12, 1985.

Cynthia worked at Honeywell for 30 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club and of the Stephenson County Farmer's Market. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Cynthia had many talents including sewing, quilting, canning and baking. She was very well known for her pies. She collected Barbie dolls, cookie jars and bells. She enjoyed camping, dancing, and bowling where she played on a team that won the city championship. She also loved going out to eat, especially at the Big Apple, the girls there always made her feel like family.

More recently she enjoyed sitting outside under her walnut tree listening to birds. She was a happy-go-lucky person who loved being around people and helping others. She held family and friends close to her heart. She loved you more than you can possibly know.

She is survived by her husband, Duwaine (Allen) Ditsworth; sons, Scott Johnson and Chad Johnson; several grandchildren; sister, Katherine (Keith) Wheat, Doris Aeling; Theresa (Steve) Kastning; and Mary Shain; mother-in-law, Charlotte Ditsworth; sisters-in-law, Debra (Robert) Brubaker and Denise (Mike) Lizer; brother-in-law, Darrell (Cindy) Ditsworth; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al and Gladys; brothers, Alvin and Archie; sister, Ava Lee; and father-in-law, Duwaine Ditsworth, Sr.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
