UPDATE: SERVICES rescheduled for April 19th

Freeport – Cynthia C. Kubitz, 83 of Freeport passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 following a brief illness.  She was born on May 21, 1940 in Freeport, IL to the late Robert and Barbara (Burrell) Campbell.  Cynthia graduated from Colorado State University. She married Thomas Kubitz on September 4, 1967 and together they raised a family.

Cynthia was a lifelong educator.  She taught English in the Freeport School district for many years. She also taught preschool at the local YWCA and would tutor children in need no matter what their circumstances were. Wherever Cynthia was there were always children nearby.  Many of her students kept in touch until her final days. Music was her passion in life that brought her much joy.  She played the flute in local concert bands, pit orchestras and ensembles in the area.  She made many friends via her music connections.

She is survived by her son, Daniel M. Kubitz of Bettendorf, Iowa.  She is preceded in death by her Parents, her husband and one son Michael Kubitz.

There will be a visitation on Friday, April 19, 2024 with a visitation beginning at 12:00pm and a service to follow immediately afterwards at 1:00pm all at Walker Mortuary.
