Obituary

Dale L. Brinkmeier, 66, of Freeport, died at his home Sunday, September 14, 2014, after a long illness.
Born November 18, 1947 in Freeport he was the son of Dale W. and F. Guireka (Guy) Brinkmeier. He married Bert (Bertha) Kelley October 18, 1969 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
He was a United States Air Force veteran.
Dale retired in 2007 from Honeywell after many years of service. He co-owned DD&J Lawn Services for 12 years.
Dale was active in fund raising for Breast Cancer Awareness.
His memberships included VFW and Pearl City American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Bert of Freeport; his children, Laura (Dave) Olson of Freeport, Sherri (Ty) Bunn of Montpelier, Idaho, Debbie (Allen) Mann of Lanark, Maria Brinkmeier of Lena, Joseph Brinkmeier of Freeport; two sisters, Connie (Bob) Homan of Milton, Florida and Janet Heuser of Elgin; grandchildren, Dale (Courtney), Duane (Kayla), Troy (Trysh), Tiffany, Christopher, Morris, Tyler, Jordan, Macy, Evelyn, and Emma; four great grandchildren, Axel, Ryker, Tazelee, and Malayah; brother of the heart, Dick (Sherri) Mullen; and good friend, Mary G.; his dogs, Buddy, Holly, and Dottie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Paul Heuser; and his dog, Ripley.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 12 noon Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Wounded Warriors Project.
