Obituary

Dale Leroy Ferguson, 90, of Rock City, IL passed away on August 16th, 2024 at Medina Manor in Durand, IL with his family by his side. Born November 13th, 1933 in Pecatonica, IL. The son of Lowell and Arlie (Klitz) Ferguson. He married Bonnie Bowman in 1957.

He was an Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborne from 1953-1956. Dale then farmed on the family farm for many years before starting his career in truck driving, hauling livestock for Maurice Braur of Pecatonica, IL. Then he moved on to the Furst Mcness Company in Freeport, IL hauling livestock premixes all over the country. After retiring from there he drove truck for Annie's Nursery in Freeport, then Wee Hill Trucking in Rock City, IL before retiring for good from truck driving.

In his younger years Dale enjoyed riding and raising horses. Later in life he enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching and going to PBR bull riding events and in the last 2 years feeding and watching the squirrels in his backyard.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Williams of Belleville, WI, Sons, Sam (Mary Jane) Ferguson of Pecatonica, IL and Dan (Donna) Ferguson of Rochelle, IL. Five Grandchildren, Josh(Lisa) Trumpy of Freeport, IL, Lucas(Shannon) Ferguson of Soquel, CA, Amanda Ferguson of Pecatonica, IL, Samantha (Kastan Turpin) of Rockford, IL and Eddie Glavin of Chicago, IL. Seven Great-Grandchildren, Brianna Spencer, Austin Spencer, Nicolas Trumpy, Kira Trumpy, Mason Garvin-Ferguson, Kabel Turpin and Owen Mashburn, six Great Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, his parents Lowell and Arlie (Klitz) Ferguson, his brothers Billy and Pete Ferguson, his sisters Janet Bergquist and Darlene Peterson and one Great Grandchild.

Cremation rights will be accorded per his wishes. A private family service will be at the family farm at a later date. His family would like to thank Mercy Health Hospice of Rockford and the staff at Medina Manor for the care and support given to him the last four months.
