CWO4 Dale E. Strohecker, 92, of Ridott, went to a higher command on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Born in Silver Creek Township he was the son of Chester and Ella (Ascher) Strohecker. Dale was a career Veteran of the United States Coast Guard retiring in 1972. His memberships include the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Quarter Century Wireless Association since he was 1934, and lifetime member of the N.R.A., Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association. Surviving are his sisters Marian Mooney of Freeport, Grace (Joe) Schatz of Winnebago; brothers Delmer (Dorothy) Strohecker of Freeport, Chester (Virginia) Strohecker of Arthur; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Ella (Ascher) Strohecker, two sisters Ella (Pehl) Strohecker, Sadie (Scheidegger) Strohecker and a brother Fredrick Strohecker.
Visitation will be Monday, April 15, 2013 at Walker Mortuary from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Graveside military honors will be 11:30 am at Freeport City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
