Daniel D. Elgin , aged 67 of Freeport, IL, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born December 13, 1953; the son of Robert and Ruth (Nunemacher) Elgin. He was a 1972 graduate of Freeport High School. Daniel married Wendy Lehmann on August 2, 1974.

He was currently employed at Titan Tire where he had been working since 1972. He was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church of Freeport. Daniel was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors, caring for his yard and pond. His favorite pastime was sitting relaxing on his deck. Most of all, he loved being a grandpa to his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Elgin of Freeport; mother, Ruth Elgin of Freeport; sons, Matthew (Holly) Elgin of Texas and James (Krista) Elgin of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Lydia, Lily, Jeriah, and Jalon; brothers, Kenneth (Terry) Elgin of Orangeville, IL and Andrew (Somer) Elgin of Freeport; and several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, James.

Private services will be held and interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.walkermortuary.com.
