Daniel W. Kreeger, age 68 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at UW Madison Hospital. He was born November 8, 1955 in Tyndall, SD; the son of Willie and Arlene (Ackerman) Kreeger. He was a 1974 graduate of Freeport High School. Daniel married Marla Veer on September 28, 1974.

He served in the United States Air Force stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. NV. Daniel worked at Kelly Springfield/Titan Tire until retirement. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ of Freeport. He spent his free time volunteering in various places in the area, specifically at Pegasus X then over 30 years at Contact until its closing. He was president of the board of FACC, and he volunteered in the food pantry. He spent time being a member of the school board as well as being an advocating member of his union.

Daniel enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, going to all of his kids and grandkids sporting events and any family events. He was also an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He had a big heart and would help anyone who was in need, free of any judgement.

He is survived by his wife, Marla Kreeger of Freeport; son, Brandon (Michelle) Kreeger of Rockton, IL; daughter, Olivia (David) Shaffer of Lanark, IL; grandchildren, Dylan (Abby) Holbert, Tyler Kreeger, Arielle Ashley, Ryan Shaffer, Madelynn Ashley, Addisyn Shaffer, and Sarah Wittbecker; siblings, John (Tracy) Kreeger, Joann Floerke, Richard (Vickie) Kreeger, and Willie (Debbie) Kreeger all of Freeport; sister-in-law, Marce (Brian) Keeton of Freeport; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Kreeger; and father and mother -in-law, Raymond & Joyce Veer.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. John UCC in Freeport. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 7th at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
