Rock City – Daniel Meinert, 56 of Rock City passed away unexpectedly at FHN Memorial Hospital on January 24, 2023 with his family at his side.  He was born on February 8, 1966 in Pasadena, TX to the late Robert and Clorida (Lane) Meinert.  He attended Dakota HS and married the love of his life, Linette Anderson on March 23, 2001.  He worked at Woodward Governor as an operations technician for over 10 years.

He loved his family very much and would do anything for them.  He enjoyed archery, old movies, mowing and cutting trees, cars and motorcycles.  He even had a small collection of chain saws.

He is survived by his wife, Linette; daughter, Jessica Thompson of Rock City; sons, Alex Thompson of Davis, Shawn (Kelly) Thompson of Durand and his sister, Susan (Gary) Eilders of Freeport. His legacy also includes, six grandchildren; Airon Thompson, Shelly Stevens, Riley Schadewaldt, Kaileigh Thompson, Logan Wise and Teyler Thompson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Meinert.

There will be a visitation at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, Il on Saturday, February 4, 2023 beginning at 12PM – 2PM.  A service of remembrance will immediately follow at 2pm, also at the funeral home.
