Darla Sue Reifsteck, age 49 of Davis, IL, unexpectedly went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 10, 2018. She was born on January 8, 1969 in Sioux Falls, SD to Dean and Mary (Brandt) Kistler. She graduated from River Ridge High School with the class of 1987. Darla attended Illinois State University and Rock Valley College. She received her Bachelor's degree from Rockford College and went on to receive her Master's from National Louis University.
Darla taught at Dakota Elementary School and others area schools. She most recently taught for the Freeport School District, where she has worked for the last 10 years. She was a former member of the Dakota United Methodist Church and currently attended Faith Community Church of Davis. She was also a member of the National Education Association. Darla enjoyed hiking, scrapbooking and adding to her high-heeled shoe collection, a hobby she truly had a passion for. Most of all, she loved spending time with her girls, especially running them around to various places. She was a loving mother, not only to her girls, but to many others as well. Darla will always be remembered for her ability to make people laugh.
She is survived by her daughters, Kaitlyn, Jacalyn, and Madalyn Reifsteck and their father, Karl Reifsteck all of Davis; her mother, Mary Kistler of Hanover, IL; father, Dean (Frieda) Kistler of Parkers Prairie, MN; sisters, Debbie (Tim) Callahan of Schaumberg, IL, Dawn (Terry) Switzer of Lena, IL, and Denise (Andy) Brotzman of Galena, IL; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Vishal Malhotra of Sugargove, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and mother-in-law.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Faith Community Church in Davis, IL on Saturday, February 17,, 2018. A celebration of Darla's life will be on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm also at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Reifsteck Girls.
