Freeport – Darleen B. Heine, 89 of Freeport passed away at home on Monday, December 6 ^th .  She was born on August 2, 1932 in Freeport to the late Bruce and Edith (Shippy) Soliday.  She married Gerald Heine on June 3, 1951.  He died on February 27, 2016.  Together they raised a family and they owned and operated a business together, called Heine Plastics Inc. from 1940 – 2000.

Darleen was a former member of the Cedarville United Methodist Church.  She was an avid bird watcher and care-taker of hummingbirds and other animals at her home.  Darleen was a great cook.  She and Gerald loved to go camping, boat and fish on the Mississippi, go to casinos, attend local theatre productions and travel to places like Branson, MO to take in the shows.

She is survived by her daughter, LuAnn (Larry) Handfelt of Chadwick, IL.; Daughter in Law, Dianne (late Barry Heine); Grandson, Jami (Tina) Thruman of Freeport; Granddaughter, Brittany (Duane) Enos of Peosta, IA; Sister, Juneal (Charles) Ohlwine of Freeport. Great grandchildren, Dale and Ryan Thruman both of Freeport; Natalie and Bruce Enos of Peosta, IA; as well as several other loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sons, Barry and Brian Heine and her infant daughter, Cherie.
