Darlene M. Schmoll, 78, of Shannon, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.
Born December 5, 1935 in Freeport she was the daughter of Joseph and Beatrice (Shay) Schlamp. She married Arnold Schmoll October 7, 1955.
She graduated June 8, 1950 from St. Joseph School in Freeport.
Darlene was employed at Elkay in Lanark. She then worked at Shannon Nursing Home where she retired.
Wife, loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband of Shannon; her children, Karen "Sue" (Les McHoes) Schmoll of Gratiot, Wisconsin, Joey (Cevin Kolden) Schmoll of Beloit, Wisconsin, Rose (Kevin) Burnett of Shannon, Mary (Barbara Ziller) Schmoll-Coombes of Lanark, and Darliene (Leon) Strong of Lena; her grandchildren, Misty Ramos and Jay Miller, Daniel Schmoll, Jennifer and Timothy Burnett, Joshua and Jerime Coombes, Mark Ziller, and Nicole Cowman; 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jay, Roger, and John; and her grandson, Michael.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday May 1, 2014 at Walker Mortuary in Freeport.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
