Naperville – Darrel K. Hughes, 61, of Winfield, Illinois passed away at Accent Care Hospice in Naperville on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  He was born on October 25, 1961 to Norman Keith Hughes and Linda Hughes.  Darrel graduated from Freeport High School in Freeport, Illinois in 1979.  Upon completion of High School, he attended Wisconsin school of Electronics in Madison, Wisconsin, after which he was hired as a Certified Electronic Technician.  A few years later, while still working full time in electronics, he started college at night to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree.  He graduated with an Associate's degree from College of DuPage, and later obtained his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.   He was an electrical engineer who loved the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bulls, and the Green Bay Packers.  Dogs were his passion along with listening to rock and roll music and challenging himself with logic puzzles, number puzzles, and word puzzles.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Joseph and Linda Kerber of Freeport, his father and stepmother, Norman Keith Hughes and Josie Hughes of Pembroke Pines, Florida, and his sister, Debra Hughes of Houston, Texas and many other cousins, aunts and uncles.

There will be a Memorial service scheduled for August 10th with a visitation at 1PM followed by the service at 2PM.
