Darrell Wayne Baker, age 87 of Cedarville, IL passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Manor Court in Freeport. He was born on July 6, 1936 at home in Rosedale, (Garrett County) MD; the oldest son of the late John and Dorothy (McRobie) Baker. Darrell married June Brinkmeier on June 28, 1958 at Nora Community Church, Nora, IL.

Darrell worked for Illinois Central Railroad and retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company.

His hobby was woodworking. He made many grandfather clocks, dulcimers, guitars, and many other projects of which many were given to his children, family members, and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.

Darrell accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was 21 and was a member of the Freeport First Free Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June Baker of Cedarville; daughter, Cynthia (Greg) Marsh of Livingston, WI; grandchildren, Daniel Marsh, Jason (Amber) Marsh, Jeremy (Angie) Moreland, Stephanie (Ian) Madore, and Ellen Baker; great grandchildren, Kyla, Cidnee, Lydia, Trinity Moreland, Micah, and Eliana Marsh; sisters, Barbara Myers, Linda Belasco, Janet Beckman, and Patricia Crouse; and brother, Richard (Glenda) Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Teresa Moreland; son, Dennis Baker; sisters, Norma Harper, Georgianna Sines, Donna Baker; and brothers, Ronald, Roger, and Doug.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Freeport First Free Methodist Church. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
