Darryl W. Bausman, 85, of Freeport, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Manor Court due to complications from Parkinson's disease.
Born August 25, 1931 in Muscoda, Wisconsin he was the son of Wilbur and Norma (Adams) Bausman. He married Janet Swanson August 17, 1958.
Darryl was a teacher with Freeport School District 145 from 1957 until 1992.
He is a veteran of the Korean War serving as a US Army Corporal from 1951-1953.
His memberships included Embury United Methodist Church for over 50 years, lifetime member of N.E.A., I.E.A. and F.E.A., Retired Teachers of Stephenson County, and Golden K. Kiwanis.
His hobbies included: traveling, golf, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and cheering forthe Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and St. Louis Cardinals. He alsowasone of the founding members of the 35 and older Slow Pitch Soft Ball League.
Surviving are his wife, Janet of Freeport; his children, Kathryn S. (Gregg) Marshall of Rockford, Todd A. (Paula) Bausman of Hoffman Estates, Bruce (Luann) Bausman of Freeport; brothers Marlyn (Joyce) Bausman of Dubuque, IA, Jerry (Helyne) Bausman of Belvidere; Hollis (Joanne) Bausman of Monroe, WI., sister Sharon Zink of Knoxville, TN.; his grandchildren, Kelsey (Kory) Wheat, Chad Cummins, Brooke, Ryan, and Ashley Bausman; 1 great granddaughter, Aubree Wheat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Elmer and Joyce Swanson; brother-in-law, Bob Zink; and nieces Jodi Bausman and Jackie Bausman.
Per Darryl's wishes, his body has been donated to Science.
Memorial services will be held 12 noon Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Embury United Methodist Church withPastor Edward Eddy and Reverend William Blomberg officiating.
There will be a gathering for friends and relatives 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Embury United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 1, 2016.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Embury United Methodist Church, Golden KKiwanis, and Children's Hands On Museum Of Northwest Illinois.
