Daryl D. Casselman, age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Heritage Woods in Freeport. He was born May 21, 1935; the son of Alvin and Velma (Shippy) Casselman. He married Herta Frey on June 25, 1960.
Daryl served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Stormes. He worked at MicroSwitch until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and helping friends and family and was known as a "Jack of all trades." Together, Daryl and Herta enjoyed working on their home.
He is survived by his wife, Herta Casselman of Freeport; sons, Bill (Krystal) Christ and Dan (Connie) Casselman both of Freeport; grandchildren, Travis, Heather, and Dana; great grandchildren, Ethan, Teylon, Trent, Mason, Declan, Dylan, Darik, Kadence, and Kinley; brother, Larry Casselman of Freeport; and sister, Venita (Jack) Krogull of Freeport. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Francis Nelson, Dale V. Nelson, Lyle Casselman, and Glen Nelson; and sisters, Mildred Downing, Marion Nelson, and Aileen Nelson.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Military Service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport at a later date.
