Freeport
David James Kieffer, 73, of Freeport, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital following a long battle with cancer.
Born October 2, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa he was the son of Vince and Clara (Mootz) Kieffer. David married Paula J. Haas on October 2, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
David was an Electrician working for Honeywell 35 years until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed camping and fishing.
Surviving is his wife, Paula of Freeport; 3 daughters, Lorie (John) Ruszczynski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Connie (Mike) Kline of Pearl City, and Sherri Kieffer of Madison, Wisconsin; 1 son, Robert Kieffer of San Francisco, California; 1 brother, Don (Rosemary) Kieffer of Dubuque, Iowa; 1 step daughter, Julie Haas of Lena; 2 step-sons, Norm (Kim) Haas and Mike Haas both of Lena; 3 grandchildren, Katie and Nick Quittschreiber both of Colorado, and Shawn Tracy of Madison, Wisconsin; 5 step grandchildren, Cody, Casey, Quinn, and Taylor Haas, and Calvin (Danielle) Diestelmeier Jr. all of Lena; 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
All services for Mr. Kieffer will be private.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Leonard J. Ferguson Cancer Center.
