David Edward MacDonald, 56, of Davis was welcomed into heaven in the early morning hours on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Born August 20, 1959 in Gloversville, NY; the son of Edward and Donna (Monroe) MacDonald. David was a 1978 Graduate of Winnebago High School, and a 2009 graduate of Culinary Arts from Blackhawk Technical College, Janesville, WI. He married Loreen LaFurge in Davis on April 24, 1982. David was employed at Wesley Willows Retirement Center as a cook. He and Loreen enjoyed exploring back roads while riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles. Dave loved riding with family and friends, including fellow members in the Boardtracker HOG Chapter #3588 in Janesville, WI. He was the Safety Officer for the chapter for several years. David was also a member of Faith Community Church. He loved the Lord and had a passion for Men's Ministries. He would cook and study God's Word with the Saturday morning Men's Breakfast group. He would also share his talent in cooking in several church events, such as the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Survivors include his wife, Loreen; children, Jared (Jacqueline) MacDonald of Davis, and Sean (Ana Lucia) MacDonald of Dubuque, IA; grandchild, Riley Jo MacDonald of Davis; parents, Edward and Donna MacDonald of Winnebago; sister, Marilyn Hemmer of Machesney Park, IL; father in law, Robert (Judy) LaFurge Sr.; sister in law, Cindy (Kirk) Minkie; brother in law, Robert (Debra) LaFurge Jr.; and many nieces and nephews as well as other loving family members.
David was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Demos MacDonald; paternal grandmother, Florence MacDonald; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Monroe; maternal grandmother, Thelma Monroe; and mother in law, Barbara Afflerbaugh.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Friday, August 19, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Saturday, August 20, 2016 with Pastor Bob Kolb officiating. Both services will be conducted at Faith Community Church, 212 W. McKimmy Street, Davis, IL 61019. Burial will be at the Davis Cemetery, led by a motorcycle procession. A memorial has been established for the Men's Ministries of Faith Community Church.
