David Alan Monigold April 15, 1955 - May 13, 2026
David Alan Monigold, 71 of Warren, Illinois went to be with his Savior on May 13, 2026. David was born April 15, 1955 in Freeport, Illinois the son of Thomas Alton Monigold and Phyllis Ann (Schult) Monigold. David grew up in Freeport with his parents and four siblings; Beth Bangasser, Lisa (Mike) Chodorowski, Diane (Mike) Rafferty and Mark (Becky Bretner) Monigold. David was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins. David attended Freeport schools and graduated from Freeport Senior High with the Class of 1973 (Go Pretz!) David attended Highland Community College where he met his bride Barbara Ann (Clay) Monigold of Dakota, Illinois. Barbara and David were married at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Freeport, on June 7, 1975 and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2025. David and Barbara are blessed with six children: Tanya Jo (Nick DeJong), Benjamin Thomas (Jessie), Jesse Burdette (Lindsey), Jason Alan (Emily), Justin David (Julie) and Kimberly Ann (Jake Kudlacik), Adopted son Robert (Deb) Lincoln who blessed them with 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
David was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Freeport, IL and served in many offices and boards of the church. David was a Sunday school teacher for many years. He loved teaching the Word of God to the children in Sunday School. Recently, David and Barbara moved their church membership to Resurrection Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI (which accommodated Davids’s mother who lives in Monroe)
David enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and gardening, playing volleyball, and he was on several bowling leagues for many years.
In 2018, David retired from his second career as a Special Education Teacher, he earned his Master’s in Education from Quincy University. Prior to teaching David worked at Sundstrand Aerospace, in Rockford, Illinois for 20 years as an Engineering Tech and Safety Coordinator.
David was predeceased by his son Jesse Burdette Monigold, his father Thomas Alton Monigold father-in-law Arthur Clay Jr. and sister-in-law Donna (Clay) Lubbers, brother-in-law’s Jim DeMeester, Len Gray, and Timothy Clay. Maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents

Service starts at 11 am
Pastor Lewig will be officiating.
Burial will be at a later time and date at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Freeport, Illinois,
