David Richard, 84, of Freeport, joined his beloved wife, Lorraine Belle, in eternal life, Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center.
Born December 9, 1929 in Freeport he was the son of Clarence G. and Birdie Mae (Sinkorn) Grau. He married Lorraine Dole September 10, 1949 and she died January 18, 2007.
David was a Sheet Metal Worker for his entire working life retiring from Miller Engineering in Rockford in June of 1992.
He was a member of Local 219 Sheet Metal Workers Union.
Surviving are his children, David A. Gray of Lake Summerset, Kenneth Gray of Freeport, Jodene (Darrell) Lacher of Freeport, Lana Schrader of Dakota, and Sandra Gray of Freeport; his sister, Marion Derwent of Freeport; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-laws, Bob and Fran Dole of Pearl City and Joan and Dave Becke of Lake Summerset.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; his brothers, Bill, John, and Robert Gray; his infant sister, Shirley; his son-in-law, Larry Schrader; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gray; and grandson, Wayne Gray.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
Following the visitation cremation rites will be accorded.
Private family services will be held and interment of his cremated remains will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established for FHN Memorial Hospice.
