Obituary

David William Stettner, 68, of Shannon, IL passed away at his home on October 29, 2021, following an illness.

Dave was born May 24, 1953, in Elgin, IL to Donald and Nan Stettner. After graduating high school in 1969, he served four years in the U.S. Navy. Following his time in the Navy, he worked for the U.S. Department of Defense until he retired in 2014. On May 2, 1988, Dave married Kathy Brown. Together they had two daughters and four grandchildren.

Dave was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to spend his summer days with Kathy fishing at Lake Carroll. He and Kathy traveled with friends and family several times to Gulf Shores, AL, to enjoy everyone's company and great fishing. On weekends he enjoyed spending his time with his friends and family. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an incredible cook, whether it was in the kitchen, on the grill, or using his smokers. Dave was a kind person with a unique ability to make friends and have conversations with people wherever he went, and made his friends feel like family. He touched so many lives and will be missed by so many people.

Dave is survived by his wife Kathy; daughters Kelly Geisemen (Dean) and Dana Stettner (Scott); grandchildren Addison, Trevor, Hunter, and Aubrey; sisters Donna Young and Linda Stettner; and many cherished family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Jack and Dolores Brown; his sister-in-law Sue DeWall; and many loved ones close to his heart.

Because Dave loved the outdoors so much, an outdoor celebration of his life will be held this spring. Details will be provided as the spring gets near.
