Dawn Susan (Reichert) Duncan, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away on March 28th, 2026. Born September 2nd, 1954 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She lost her life to ALS, after being diagnosed less than a year prior. She was the daughter of Michael and Barbara Reichert, of Freeport. She was the second of six girls in her family.

Dawn was a proud Veteran, serving in the US Army from February 4th, 1974 until February 3rd 1977. She started her career working for Kroger and was in management there in Tennessee and Alabama. After moving back to Freeport, she worked many years at Cub Foods in Management, and Country Inn and Suites in Management. Most recently she was working for the US Post Office in McConnell, Illinois when she retired last April.

Dawn enjoyed Reading, Traveling and spending time with Family and Friends. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport.

Surviving Dawn are her two Sons and three Grandchildren. Austin Duncan (Bre Meli), and Granddaughter Ava Duncan of Freeport. Jared Duncan (Khan Linthakhanh), and Granddaughter Paige Duncan of Freeport, and Grandson Blake Duncan of Lena, Illinois. She is also survived by her Mother Barbara Reichert, and five sisters Michelle Taylor, Jackie (Fay) Meiborg, Kay (Dave) Bourscheidt, Darcy (Eric) Montes and Kristen Andrews. Dawn had many Nieces and Nephews she enjoyed watching grow up over the years. She also had some close long-lasting friendships she cherished.

She is preceded in death by her Father Michael Reichert.

Last, but definitely not least, we want to thank all the staff and volunteers at Monroe Hospice Home. Dawn spent her last 7 months of life here. She received the best and most loving care than we could’ve ever imagined. Even on the days her strong will wouldn’t allow it.

We will miss Dawn greatly, but she has left us with many wonderful memories to cherish.

There will be a visitation held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 2-4 pm at Walker Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you donate in honor of Dawn’s memory to ALS United Illinois https://secure.alsunitedchicago.org/site/Donation2?mfc_pref=T&df_id=2201&2201.donation=form1 or SSM Health Monroe Hospice Home https://www.ssmhealth.com
