Delbert M. Staas, 87, of Freeport, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at his home.
Born June 10, 1924 in Kent he was the son of Walter H. and Pauline (Clay) Staas.
He married Vivian E. Carter September 15, 1962.
Delbert worked for Newell Companies 28 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian; his daughter, Wendy (Dave) Vehmeier; 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Ben Vehmeier; 1 sister, Ruth Baumgartner all of Freeport; 3 nieces; and several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Faith United Methodist Church with Reverend John Wesley Lee and Bruce Janes of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday at 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Memorials have been established for Faith United Methodist Church and FHN Memorial Hospice.
