Obituary

Rock City – Delbert A. Zettle, 82 of Rock City passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, April 13 th at Medina Nursing Center in Durand.  He was born on February 7, 1940 to the late Oliver and Flavia (Phillips) Zettle.  He married Mary Gramley on December 31, 1960 and together they raised a family.  She died on January 12, 2003.

Delbert was a lifetime farmer in the Rock City and Dakota area.  He enjoyed working the land, traveling later in life with his wife, visiting with friends in Indiana and being with family.  Fishing in Canada with his brother was a favorite pastime. He was also member of the Freeport Mennonite Church.

He is survived by his sons, Scott (Teresa) Zettle of Freeport; Chris (Angie) Zettle of Dakota; Mike (April) Zettle of Rock City and his daughter, Ruth (Jack) Gowan of Colona, IL. His sister, Virginia Zettle of Monroe, WI also survives him.  His legacy includes 10 grandchildren, 1 step grandson and 2 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 sisters Charlotte Sveom, Verla Everson and 1 brother Ralph Zettle.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17 at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota from 5-7pm.  Services will be held on Monday, April 18 th at the Freeport Mennonite Church at 11am.

Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .  A memorial has been established in his name for the Freeport Mennonite Church meat canning ministry. His final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
