IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis W.
Keith
March 19, 1948 – December 27, 2023
Dennis "Bullseye" W. Keith, 75, of Freeport, IL passed away peacefully at Monroe Clinic's Hospice Home on December, 27th, 2023 after fighting a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 19, 1948 in Freeport, IL to Walter and Marguerite (Stuckey) Keith. He was a 1966 graduate of Freeport High School and a graduate Highland Community College where he led the baseball team in ERA. He served our country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in July of 1973. He then became a teamster with Civil Constructors where he drove oil truck until retirement in 2007.
Bullseye was an avid sportsman spending his entire life hunting, golfing, fishing, and bowling. He fulfilled ¾ of his bucket list by bowling a 300 game, shooting a buck with his bow, and catching a 10 lb walleye. He never shot his hole in one but proudly told everyone how he shot his age of 71 TWICE 4 years ago at park hills golf course where he was a member. Some of his fondest memories were on the golf course with his buddies and hunting with his lifelong friends Mark "Weasel" Gallagher, John "Rotten" Bottoms, David "Eddie-cool" Keith, and, in the last 13 years, the addition of his beloved son-in-law, Steve, and grandson, Carver. Bullseye shot his last deer during the 2021 hunting season with his "main man Carver" by his side, which he proudly showed the photo to every nurse that cared for him in his last months. When he wasn't golfing or hunting, he was spending time with family, specifically his pride and joy daughter, Ashli. Throughout her entire life he never missed a basketball/volleyball game, musical, concert, national anthem performance, or gig with 'The Usual Suspects' band. He proudly admitted to crying every time he heard her sing. He was following suit watching his grandson, Carver in sports and spending time watching his granddaughters Sloane and Blayke perform their original song and dance numbers for him in their living room. He wasn't a man of many words, but the twinkle in his eye of pride with his family and close friends spoke a thousand words.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Ashli (Steve) Asche and his beloved grandchildren Carver, Sloane, and Blaykelee Asche of Dakota, IL; his best friend and brother, David (Carol) Keith of Freeport, IL; nephew Travis (Jeni) Keith, and step-daughters Tara (Megan) Johnson and Jodi (Chris) Rasmussen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Marguerite Keith.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 beginning at 12pm followed by a service at 1pm all at Walker Mortuary. Following the service there will be a gathering at Eilert's Cocktail Bar of Freeport where there will be a "bullseye golf contest". Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com
