Ronnie was born in Oak Park Illinois on May 16th 1933, grew up in Maywood Illinois, and graduated from Proviso Township High School in 1951.  She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Dubuque in elementary education, and a master's of education from the University of Denver. She taught at West View school in Rockford, Empire and Center schools in Freeport and retired in 1992 with 26 years of teaching.

Ronnie met her husband Don through the Rockford Blackhawk Trails (hiking) Club and they married in 1962. They were married 61 years before Don's passing in 2023. They spent most of their married life in Freeport and they enjoyed traveling to favorite locations like Garden City, South Carolina; Casey Key, Florida; and the Northwoods of Wisconsin.  They also enjoyed summer band concerts at Krape Park.

Ronnie was a long-time member of St. John United Church of Christ and played in the hand bell choir for many years.  She participated in many groups/activities throughout her life including: choir and yearbook editing roles during high school and college, the Freeport Garden Club, the NW Illinois Rock Club, and the Freeport Culture Club.  Ronnie enjoyed listening to WGN radio primarily during the eras of Roy Leonard, Bob Collins, Spike O'Dell, and the call of Cubs games by Harry Caray. She loved working on jigsaw puzzles and playing games especially with family members.  Ronnie very much enjoyed staying in contact with her friends and family.  She loved writing cards and letters especially at Christmas.  Her dachshund Penny also held a special place in her heart.

Ronnie was a loving mother and grandmother and once wrote to her Dubuque college classmates, "Take time to find the beauty found in nature. Give your children, other family members, and friends all the love you can.  Enjoy life to the fullest!"  She lived it!

The family would like to thank the communities at WinnPrairie of Freeport and Harmony at Mt. Juliet for the loving care Ronnie received throughout the last several years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. John's United Church of Christ.
