Freeport – Diane L. De Spain, 74 of Freeport passed away on January 2, 2026 at Manor Court of Freeport, following a short illness. She was born on January 2, 1952 to John and Delta (Pfile) Harnish. She was a graduate of FHS in 1970 and she married Lamoine De Spain on June 20th, 1970 and together they built a life of love and friendship.
Diane, never met a person in need that she could not help in one way, shape or form. She was very active at her church, Gospel Outreach of Freeport. Together she and Lamoine would invite the homeless to their home for breakfast and over the years many lived in their home as they worked to get back on their feet. She loved Jesus and shared that with everyone she met. She truly had a servant's heart and what fulfilled her the most was giving.
Surviving are her husband, Lamoine De Spain; Daughters Heather (Steven) Foulker, Jennifer (Russell) Cochran and Delta (Jonathan) Maruszewski and a son, Lucas (Nichole) De Spain. Her legacy also includes 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was also a mother and grandmother to many more by choice.
2 surviving sisters, Patricia (Allan) Fransen and Donna (Joe) Bratley.
Preceding her in death are her parents John Harnish and Delta Mooney, her stepfather that she called "Dad", Henry Lillge; 2 sisters, Paulette (Lester) Pfile and Pamela Wise and her brother, Michael Harnish .
There will be a visitation at Gospel Outreach on Thursday, January 8, 2026 beginning at 10:30am and a service to follow at 12 noon also at the church. Her final resting place will be at Dakota Cemetery.
