Dianna F. Brinkmeier, 69, of Freeport, went home to God after a long battle with cancer, at her home surrounded by family, on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
Born October 19, 1944 in Freeport she was the daughter of Richard M. and Evelyn F. (Backus) Mitchell.
She married John Slechta and was married for 19 years. She married Daniel Brinkmeier June 1991 and he preceded her in death June 27, 1993.
She graduated from Freeport High School in 1963.
Dianna worked at Burgess Battery for one year and then Honeywell until she retired.
She was a member of Ladies of the Moose since 1993 and loved them all. Dianna was a big Bears fan. She loved animals especially her cat, Tiger.
Surviving are her children, Steven J. (Dawn) Slechta of Collinsville, Mindy K. (Brent) Larrabee of Winona, Minnesota and John M. (Patti) Slechta of Freeport; her brother, Rodney M. (Sandy) Mitchell of Rockford; six grandchildren Sasha, Tiffany, Josey, Daniel, Jerrica and Justin; two great grandchildren, Trinity and Lydia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel Brinkmeier and one son Robert M. Slechta.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Friday 11 a.m. until time of service in the Chapel at Oakland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name.
