Freeport-Dick J. McFalls, 82, of Freeport, died Monday, April 25, 2005, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born July 13, 1922 in Rockford he was the son of Clarence H. and Gladys M. (Sutton) McFalls. He married June M. Brubaker August 22, 1942.
A graduate of Freeport High School he was a veteran of WWII.
He worked at Burgess Battery for 27 years and then for Freeport Machine Works retiring in 1984.
He attended Baileyville Baptist Church and was a member of Freeport Am Vets Post 32.
An avid bowler in his earlier years he traveled extensively and wintered in Florida. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends daily.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years, June of Freeport; 4 children, Randall (Jacqueline) McFalls of Boise, ID, Sharyn (Duane) Babcock of Lena, Jolene (Frank III) Barncord of Marissa, and John McFalls of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, TSgt. Steven J. Strohecker of Vacaville, CA, Sandra (Anthony) Meyers of Freeport, Melinda (Gary Garcia) McFalls of Nampa, ID, Michelle McFalls of Lacey, WA, Frank (Michelle) Barncord IV of Belleville, Heidi (Chris) Pierce of Mascoutah, SSgt John W. McFalls Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Patrick McFalls and Adam McFalls both of Chicago; 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois Fischer.
Funeral service will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend John Erenz of Baileyville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established for Baileyville Baptist Church.
