Dolores D. Blasing , age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. She was born November 19, 1935; the daughter of the late Wendell and Pearl (Rizner) Walter. She was a 1953 graduate of Freeport High School. Dolores married Robert G. Blasing on July 25, 1953; he passed on October 16, 2006.

She worked for MicroSwitch for 33 years and she also worked for Freeport School District 145 for several years. She was a former member of First Lutheran Church of Freeport and of the Freeport Eagles Club where she was also involved in the Rod and Reel Club. Dolores was an avid reader and loved listening to music, especially the Beatles. She also enjoyed camping, dancing and her dogs. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids and having them stay overnight with her.

She is survived by her children, Wendy Boland, Dawn (Thomas) Burden, Michael (Teresa Brinkmeier) Blasing, Laura (Bernard) Durham, and Melody (Richard) Babcock all of Freeport; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Daniel (Darla) Walter of Rockford, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 27 ^th at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
