Freeport- Don F. Laible, 83, of Freeport, died Friday, January 27, 2006 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born March 8, 1922 in Freeport he was the son of Nellis and Edna (Smith) Laible. He married Marian Kratzer November 21, 1943.
He retired from Micro Switch in 1968.
Don enjoyed his antique cars and was very capable of restoring them. He and his wife owned the Galloping Horse antique business for 40 years. They enjoyed traveling the Southern District doing shows in Key West and Miami Florida etc.
Their love of adventure took them on many trips abroad and went around the world. Don enjoyed driving cars, instead of joining regular tour groups and riding busses.
Don loved people and made friends easily. He was active at Embury church where he was a member of 60 years and served as an usher.
Don was a wonderful person now at home with the Lord.
Surviving is his wife, Marian of Freeport; 2 nephews, William E. (Joyce) Small of Dakota and David (Lori) Laible of California; 3 nieces, Jane (Jan) Hall of Naperville, Dr. Mary Ann (Bob) Stenger of Louisville, Kentucky, and Joann (Richard) Millington of California; sister in-law, Barbara Laible, of California; numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Chester; 1 sister, Pauline Small.
Funeral service and Burial will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Reverend D. Robin Benson of Embury United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial has been established for Embury United Methodist Church.
