Don H. Niedermeier, age 94 of Rock City, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at home with his children by his side. He was born February 29, 1928; the son of the late Harry and Agnes (Logan) Niedermeier. On November 21, 1948, Don married Fern Schlueter. Fern passed away on July 20, 2020; they were married 71 years.

Don was raised by his Uncle and Aunt, Fred and Hazel Niedermeier from the age of five after the passing of his father. He and Fern farmed Fred and Hazel's farm for 52 years and then moved two blocks into Rock City for retirement for the next 32 years. After retirement he helped Thoren Brothers Electric. He was also a member of the Rock City Fire Dept. for many years, and took care of the water meter checks. Five acres of their farm is now the Rock City Park. He was a faithful lifelong member of St. Paul Church of Epleyanna. Don loved fishing, hunting, bowling, making wine, and playing cards.

Don is survived by his children, Steve of Rock City and Vicky of Freeport; brother, Jim Niedermeier of Rockford and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry; Mother, Agnes (Charles) Gill; brother, Harry Niedermeier; sister-in-laws, Joyce Niedermeier and Gladys (Ralph "Skip") Elmer; and brother-in-laws, Vernon (Josie) Schlueter and Melvin (Bernice) Schlueter.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna in Davis, IL. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Paul Church Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Church of Epleyanna and for FHN Hospice. The Daughenbaugh Funeral Home of Dakota, IL is assisting his family.
