Dona Jean Wilson, 93, of Rock City passed away on Friday, April 4th, 2025. She was born and raised in Dakota, Il; the daughter of Howard and Pearl Lawler. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1949 and married Donald Wilson on March 16th, 1952. Dona was a telephone operator in Dakota, she worked side by side with her husband Don on the family farm, and was the head cook in the Dakota School District. In retirement, Dona volunteered at FHN Hospital. She was a life long member of the Dakota Rock Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, doing puzzles, and watching the Cubs. She enjoyed chaperoning several trips with the Dakota Marching Indians, and loved going to all of her grandkids and great grandkids sporting events and activities. Dona was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Dona is survived by her three children, Mike (Colleen) Wilson and their sons Tyler and Adam; Jeanine (Terry) Weiand and their children, Eric (Kelly) Weiand and their son, Xander, Jamie (Josh) Sickles and their children, Brynlee, Kenzie, and Cooper, and Jordan Weiand; Chris (Kurt) Koester and their children, Landon, Griffin (Cam) Timm, and Keegan; her sister Loraine Toelke; sister-in-law Neva Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. Dona is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; brothers Elwyn Lawler, Gaylen Lawler, Wendal Lawler, Arol Lawler; sisters, Nelda Yeoman, Levon Fehr, and Verlene Afflerbaugh.
Services will be held at the Dakota United Methodist Church 120 S. St Dakota, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11th from 9-11 a.m., and the memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. A memorial fund will established in her name.
