Freeport
Donald L. Sager, 88, of Freeport, died Wednesday February 24, 2016 at Pearl Pavilion Nursing Center in Freeport.
Born January 19, 1928 in Freeport he was the son of Charles and Clara (Herbig) Sager. He married Donna M. Althafer in 1952 and she died in 2004.
Donald worked for Burgess Battery and the Freeport School District.
He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He was a member of the Freeport Eagles.
Surviving are his children, Patricia (Don) Seiple, Richard Sager, and Rodney Sager all of Freeport; his sister, Alice Midthum of Freeport; his grandchildren, Kelli Kappes (Jeremy), Krista Hall (Jerome), Patrick Seiple, and Erin Blaser (Erich); his great grandchildren, Makayla Cole, Jerzi Kappes, Jerome Hall (JJ), Jalyah Hall, Journe Hall, Rainah Seiple, and Amethyst Blaser; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Steven L. Sager; his siblings, Clarence, Charlie, Marty, Bob, Larry, Clara, Vera, Betty, and Nellie.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Pearl City.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, Saturday at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established.
