Donald (Don, Donnie) Klipping, 80 of Freeport passed away Sunday, May 5th, 2013. He was born Nov. 9, 1932 in Stephenson County, to Ephriam & Clara (Brinkmeier) Klipping. On May 9, 1953 he married the love of his life, Deloris Stabenow at First Lutheran Church in Freeport.
He was educated at Freeport & Shannon School Districts.
Don was a Production Supervisor at Micro Switch (Honeywell) for 38 years before retiring in 1991. Also in his early years he was a baker at Cooks & Goul s Bakeries in Freeport. After retirement he drove the Senior Citizen Bus, & was a lunch room supervisor at Taylor Park School & also drove cars for Barkau Auto Sales.
His family was #1 in his life. Don was a devoted husband, father & grandfather and was loved by all who knew him. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren & was involved in their activities with school & sports. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, fishing & boating. He enjoyed woodworking & repairing things. If something appeared non repairable he would study it until he had the solution to repair it in his own way, good as new. This is a trait he will forever be remembered. We always joked, don 't throw it away until Grandpa looks at it!! Another trait he will be remembered for is his quiet ways & genuine smile. He will be sadly missed by family & friends.
Surviving are his wife, Deloris of Freeport, one daughter, Sherrie Klipping of Casa Grande, AZ, two grandchildren, Katina & Britton Dole of Casa Grande, AZ & one great Grandson, Zander Moreno of Casa Grande, AZ, 4 sister in laws, Margery Klipping of Lena, Shirley Grier of Freeport, Lorraine Stabenow of Cedarville, Loretta Uhlar of Stillman Valley, & one brother in law John Uhlar of Stillman Valley, & many nieces & nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Irene Grier, Clara Belle Meier, one brother, Robert Klipping, brother in laws, Burdette (Bud) Grier, Stanley Meier, & Howard Stabenow.
The funeral service & celebration of Don s life will be Thursday, May 9th 1:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary Freeport with Pastor Stephen Precht officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8th 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial fund has been established in his name & also for FHN Hospice of Freeport.
A special note, May 9th is also Don & Deloris s 60th Wedding Anniversary!
