Freeport-Donald J. Eder, 88, of Freeport, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center.
Born June 17, 1918 in Silver Creek Township he was the son of Edwin and Amelia (Neuberger) Eder. He married Margaret I. Hemphill in Kahoka, Missouri.
Donald was a life time Silver Creek Township farmer. He spent 14 years on the Freeport Rural Fire Department.
He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret of Freeport; 1 son, Mike (Colleen) Eder of Warren; 2 daughters, Suzie (Richard) Romero of Pomona, California and Myrna (Kenneth) Williams of Lena; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Willard; and two sisters, Evelyn and Florence.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial service will be Saturday 3 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
