Donald L. Fryer , age 85 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. He was born October 2, 1933; the son of the late Marvin and Esther (Kortman) Fryer. He married Gayle Bennehoff on February 17, 1962; she passed away on February 6, 2004.

Donald served in the United States Army stationed in Alaska from 1955-1957. He retired from Civil Constructors after 42 years as a truck driver. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Freeport. Donald enjoyed camping and boating in his younger years. He also enjoyed going to tractor pulls and was an avid race fan. He especially liked to watch his grandson race.

He is survived by his sons, Todd Fryer and Troy Fryer both of Freeport; grandchildren, Jaden Fryer and Jacey & Jessica Dowd; and brothers, Frank Fryer, of Freeport, Gale (Mary) Fryer of Freeport, and Steve (Teresa) Fryer of Lena, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gayle; brother, Ralph; and sister, Doris Fisher.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum at a later date. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
